Green Chile time of the year

Every early September the smell of chile roasting fills the air at local farmers markets and grocery stores.  It is a wonderful end of summer scent and you have to make space in your freezer so that you can stock up on enough chile to last you for the whole year.  It is a New Mexico tradition.  It has to be Hatch Green Chile(meaning that it came from Hatch, NM where green chile grows the best).  Do you smell it yet?

Roasted chile in beautiful colors
Everyone gets a little giddy about freshly pealed chile!
That doesn't mean it is an easy process.  If you get a whole gunny sack, you will be pealing all day! We just got a small pack this year.
Put your gloves on, peal the skins, remove the stem and as many seeds as you can.
Yum, you know this is making your mouth water!
 Package and freeze

Smelly Paint Markers

What do you think happens when you leave a 2 year old in a tub with scented paint markers? See for yourself!  I honestly did not know they were the smelly type until I saw him...

I wonder which one smelled better?
Maybe if I close my eyes, they won't see the mess I made!
 Umm, Umm smells good!
You should try smelling these "Marmers", mom!

Bug Boy

Not sure if it is the age or the stage or the kid... But K is totally fascinated with all things nature related.  The other day he brought me a cricket (carried it by its leg) and on another occasion he stood in the rocks laughing because a couple of ants were crawling up his legs.  A couple of weeks ago he could not resist this praying mantis getting some sun on the top of the playground.  He has so much curiosity and is fun to watch as he learns and explores.

Look mom, it is a bug!

Ready for take off

One of Mike's past time enjoyments was to fly his flight simulator on his PC.  Since the arrival of the little ones, he hasn't had much time for things like that. That was until big J found the flight simulator box on the bookshelf and begged him to show him what it was.  Once the boom of the engine started the other kids came running.  Welcome to daddy flying school!

Start your engines!
